Had the 16 week check-up with Dr. P yesterday. Met Matt in the parking lot, we walked in with Cora, then I signed in, we got sat down, then they called us back. Matt and Cora waited while I got weighed (only gained 1 pound!!! yay!) peed in a cup, then we went back to the exam room. I sat on the table, Matt held Cora, while the nurse took my blood pressure (normal), then we waited a little while for the Doctor to come in.
He asked if I had any questions before we listened to the baby's heartbeat. I wanted to know if it was all right to add in a tiny bit of jogging with the walks I've been taking. Nothing big, but just to get down the road a little bit faster every now and then. Like, 30 feet of jogging, 70 feet of walking....like that. He said it would probably be fine, but the general rule is "do not increase your level of exercise while pregnant" so to take it easy. We'll see, at least I have the green light to try a little jogging, but I may not really feel like it!! It does feel great to get out and do the walking, though!
Then I laid down on the table and he checked for the baby's heartbeat. It took SO LONG to find it...I was getting nervous, but then he finally did, and it was around 145 bpm.
In two weeks (June 3) we go back for the ultrasound. They should be able to tell us what the sex of the baby is at that time, so we're pretty excited :-)
