So I have to admit that part of the fun of knowing we are going to have a little boy is being able to prepare for his arrival with purchasing gender appropriate clothing and accessories. We have plenty of girl stuff, and since we didn't find out the gender of our first child until she was born, most of our gear is neutral. Nice!
At our last shopping trip, I picked up some boy clothes and fabric on sale! Several short sleeve and long-sleeve onesies, a sleeper, a bib, a blanket, two pairs of Babylegs (one brown with trucks, the other teal with multicolored stars). I love Babylegs for pairing with a bodysuit to keep the legs warm - makes diapering faster, since you don't have to put pants on the baby, plus, they help keep socks on!
At the top right of the picture is 5 yards of striped fabric that I'll use to sew a wrap carrier that I'll wear similarly to the pictures in this link. I think this will be a great way to wear our newborn son this fall/winter/early spring since the fabric will add a nice extra layer of warmth. If you are expecting a baby and are at all interested in trying a wrap carrier such as this - do not spend the $80+ they charge to buy one. I bought 5 yards of fabric (which will make 2 carriers) for less than $12, and it is easy sewing. If you are not comfortable with the sewing machine, tell me and I will make yours for you! Now, the soft structured carriers such as the Ergo, etc, are 100% worth the money, but that's after baby's big enough to hold up their head. Do not waste your time with an Infantino carrier. They are AWFUL!!
You might also see in the picture some yellow fabric with tiny animals on it. I got 2 yards of this 50% off and plan to sew something for baby with it. Maybe a sleeper, or a blanket or anything, really. 2 yards will go a long way with baby clothes.
But really, we're pretty well prepared for this baby gear-wise. All we really need are boy clothes (and actually, maybe not that much of those since a lot of the stuff we got with our first was gender neutral, I still need to go through the boxes) newborn sized cloth diapers (we have 8+ lbs, but really those are HUGE on a newborn....we need a stash of 6-10 lb cloth). I have registered online at one of my favorite stores, Mom4Life.com, for some things that I really like from that store, but not all of them are just for the baby! Actually, only about half of it is for baby....most of it is stuff Mommy will use for herself (while caring for our baby) and stuff that Cora can use now, and that her little brother can enjoy later.
